03/09/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 September, the European Commission authorised, under EU State aid rules, a German measure worth €200 million to support Niedersachsen Ports GmbH & Co. KG ("i") to build four new berths in the port of Cuxhaven, according to a press release. “The project will strengthen Cuxhaven’s position as an offshore industrial centre by improving the infrastructure for rotating heavy loads, in particular wind farm components. The measure will also help Germany reach its renewable energy targets while improving the security of its energy supply”. The aid will take the form of a €200 million subsidy to NPorts, the public port authority. The terminal is expected to start operating in 2028 for a period of 30 years. (SP)
