22/07/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 July, the EU Council adopted without debate a regulation on the digital labelling of fertilising products. The text promotes the use of digital labels on EU fertilising products while keeping physical labels where they are necessary (see EUROPE 13369/34). It also improves the readability of labels and simplifies the labelling obligations of suppliers. Digital labels will have a life-time of at least 10 years from the time a product is placed on the market. The regulation also guarantees the availability of information by physical means in order to protect vulnerable consumers or people with limited digital competences. After signature by the President of the European Parliament and the President of the EU Council, the regulation will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will enter into force three days later.
