22/07/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 22 July, the European Commission opened a circumvention investigation into its anti-dumping measure affecting imports of Chinese monosodium glutamate (the sodium salt contained in glutamic acid, a food additive) since 2021. In June 2024, global amino acid group Ajinomoto Foods Europe filed a request for an anti-dumping duty circumvention investigation via Malaysia. The Commission considered that there was sufficient evidence in the request to justify opening an investigation. It now has nine months to publish its conclusions and any measures to be taken against imports of this product from Malaysia. See the implementing regulation: https://aeur.eu/f/d39 (LM)
