European health ministers are meeting in Budapest on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 July, under the chairmanship of Péter Takács, the Hungarian minister, for an informal debate on EU action against cardiovascular disease and European cooperation in the field of transplantation (organ donation).
The Hungarian Presidency of the EU Council hopes that the Member States will adopt conclusions on these two issues, which will be debated on 25 July (see EUROPE 13445/16).
In addition, at their working lunch on Thursday, ministers will review the implementation of the European Health Data Space (see EUROPE 13372/2).
An agreement between the institutions was reached in mid-March on the text establishing a European Health Data Space, which will enable patients to access their health data electronically, including from a Member State where they do not reside, and will allow healthcare professionals to consult their patients’ files with their consent from other EU countries. These electronic medical records will include patient files, electronic prescriptions, medical imaging and laboratory results. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
