12/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 12 March, the European Parliament ratified (596 votes in favour, 7 against and 5 abstentions) the text resulting from an Interinstitutional Agreement with the Council of the European Union on the digital labelling of fertiliser products (see EUROPE 13334/33). The new regulation encourages wider use of digital labelling of fertilisers, while providing for measures to retain physical labels where necessary. The digital labels will be available for a period of 10 years from the time the product is placed on the market. Farmers and other consumers of fertiliser products sold in packaging will continue to benefit from digital and physical labels for the most important information (see EUROPE 13295/15).
