10/07/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 July, the European Commission approved the registration of five new agricultural designations. For Cyprus, this is the protected geographical indication (PGI) ‘Τερτζιελλούθκια / Tertziellouthkia’, which designates a type of pasta made by mixing durum wheat flour with water and another type of flour, such as country flour or wholemeal flour, with semolina, water and salt. The Commission has registered two Turkish protected designations of origin (PDOs): ‘Bingöl Balı’, a polyfloral honey produced in the Eastern Anatolian province of Bingöl, and ‘Osmaniye Yer Fıstığı’, peanuts produced in the province of Osmaniye. The Commission has also validated the Spanish PGI ‘Espárrago verde de Guadalajara’ (green asparagus produced in the province of Guadalajara) and the Italian PGI ‘Cavolfiore della Piana del Sele’ (cauliflower produced in the province of Salerno).
