10/07/2024 (Agence Europe) – The Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will not oppose the organisation of a hearing on Hungary under Article 7 of the Treaty during its six-month term, even if the exercise is unpleasant, Hungarian Minister for European Affairs János Bóka told the European press in Brussels on Wednesday 10 July. “At least from my perspective for the last hearing at the very end of the Belgian presidency (see EUROPE 13439/9), hearings would not necessarily require to have a hearing during the unveiling, but if there is a clear indication on behalf of the Member States that they think another Article 7 given during the Hungarian Presidency is required, then the Hungarian Presidency is not opposed to organising”, said the Minister.
