07/06/24 (Agence Europe) – 19 countries, including 11 Member States of the European Union plus the United States, Canada and Ukraine, considered that “more remains to be done” to give Europe a “stronger and more capable European defence” benefiting from the “central role played by NATO”, in a joint declaration adopted on Thursday 6 June alongside the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy. They also emphasise “the territorial integrity of sovereign States” and reject “the use of force as a means of settling disputes”, particularly territorial disputes. Adding: “ Our Alliance and our partnerships are strictly defensive and do not represent any form of threat to the security of another state”. See the declaration: https://aeur.eu/f/ckw (MB)
