On Friday 7 June, the European Commission published a roadmap entitled ‘For a resilient, sustainable and digital aerospace and defence industrial ecosystem: Scenarios for a transition pathway’ at the ILA Berlin Air Show.
This roadmap highlights 53 priority actions covering issues such as sustainable competitiveness, sound regulation, modern infrastructure, skills development and investment financing, the social dimension and innovation. Actions can be either short-term and launched immediately, medium-term (to be launched by 2030) or long-term (to be launched by 2040).
According to the Commission, the report was created through an intensive co-creation process involving stakeholders from industry, EU Member States, research institutes, academia and citizens. To implement this roadmap, a call for tenders will be launched shortly. According to the European Commission, the aim of the call is to gather pledges for concrete actions that stakeholders will undertake in order to advance the actions identified in the transition pathway.
