European Commission launches new €850 million call for funding for energy infrastructure projects

On Tuesday 30 April, the European Commission launched a new €850 million call for proposals to support energy infrastructure projects under the Connecting Europe Facility.

Organised by the Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), this is the first call for funding for projects included in the list of Projects of Common Interest and Projects of Mutual Interest (PCI/PMI), recently approved as part of the revised TEN-E regulation (see EUROPE 13387/10).

This is the first time that projects on offshore electricity grids and hydrogen are eligible for support under the CEF, and that fossil fuel infrastructure is excluded”, said the European Commission in a press release.

Project promoters have until 22 October to apply for EU co-financing in the form of grants for studies and construction works. On 14 May, the Commission will be holding a virtual information event to provide information on the application process.

The results of the call for proposals will be known in 2025. (Original version in French by Pauline Denys)
