15/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 12 April, the European University Association (EUA) and swissuniversities launched a joint appeal for Switzerland to join Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ as soon as possible. The EUA and swissuniversities have welcomed the adoption by the Swiss Federal Council and the European Commission of the final mandates for negotiations between Switzerland and the EU. The two organisations stress the importance, in the current geopolitical climate, of forging links with third countries that share the same sensibility in the field of research and innovation and the same values, particularly with regard to academic freedom, research ethics and democracy. Both organisations said that Switzerland’s full association with Horizon Europe and Erasmus+ would bring clarity to the European R&I and higher education sectors.
