09/04/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 April, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) approved by 30 votes to one with one abstention the provisional agreement with the EU Council on the directive on the cross-border exchange of information on road safety offences (see EUROPE 13370/9). Under the terms of the agreement, reached in March, the scope of application has been extended to include new offences, such as crossing a continuous line, dangerous overtaking and parking, driving the wrong way, using overloaded vehicles and hit-and-run offences. The agreement still has to be approved by the whole European Parliament during the April plenary session. The Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) approved the text at the end of March (see EUROPE 13378/33). Read the final text: https://aeur.eu/f/bo2 (AD)
