25/03/24 (Agence Europe) – The Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) approved, on Wednesday 20 March, the agreement reached on Tuesday 12 March with the European Parliament on the Directive on the cross-border exchange of information on road-safety-related traffic offences (see EUROPE 13370/9). Under the provisional agreement, the scope of the Directive has been extended to include new offences: - not respecting vehicle access restrictions, or rules at a railway level-crossing; - crossing a continuous line; - dangerous overtaking; - dangerous parking; - wrong-way driving; - the use of overloaded vehicles; - hit and run cases. Member States will have eleven months to send out a notice of infringement. The text still has to be approved by the European Parliament before it comes into force.
