25/03/24 (Agence Europe) – On Saturday 23 March, the Presidents of the European institutions and the EU High Representative condemned the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Moscow, which was claimed by the Islamic State and left at least 137 people dead. “Loss of innocent lives anywhere is a human tragedy”, Charles Michel said on X (formerly Twitter). For Josep Borrell, “the international community must remain firmly united against the scourge of terrorism”. On Monday, the spokesman for the European External Action Service, Peter Stano, expressed concern at the link made by the Russian authorities with Ukraine, saying that there was no proof of such a link. He called on the Russian authorities not to use the attack as “a pretext, a motivation” to increase attacks in Ukraine and the internal crackdown on the regime’s critics. (CG)
