68th United Nations Commission on Status of Women ends with call to integrate gender lens into international financial architecture

The 68th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) (see EUROPE B13370A36) concluded in New York on Friday 22 March with a commitment by UN member states to step up the fight against poverty among women and girls.

As 10.3% of women worldwide live in extreme poverty, the CSW68 conclusions call for a reform of the international financial architecture, deemed to be ill-adapted to the current crises, and recommend measures such as debt relief and fairer taxation.
