09/04/2024 (Agence Europe) – Following recent Russian attacks which damaged several Ukrainian electricity infrastructures, the EU has deployed its civil protection mechanism to provide the necessary assistance to maintain the country’s electricity supply. To bolster Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, the EU has announced that it is sending 10 high-capacity (1 MW) electricity generators from its own ‘rescEU’ strategic stocks, with a financial value of €3.57 million. Each of these generators has the capacity to supply electricity to a medium-sized hospital under emergency conditions. For their part, Austria, Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands have transferred 157 electricity generators of various sizes to meet the needs of the largest institutions. Over the last few days, Russian ballistic missile strikes have deprived several Ukrainian towns, including Mykolaïv, Odessa and Kharkiv, of electricity. (IS)
