09/04/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 April, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) approved by 32 votes to 2, with one abstention, the provisional agreement with the EU Council on the ‘Single European Sky’ and the European Aviation Safety Agency (see EUROPE 13365/1). The aim of this revised framework is to improve the management of European airspace by optimising flight itineraries and reducing delays. It introduces performance plans for air navigation services, with binding targets and incentives to make flights more efficient and environmentally friendly. The agreement still has to be approved by the whole European Parliament at the April plenary session. The Member States’ ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) approved the text at the end of March (see EUROPE 13378/34). Read the final text: https://aeur.eu/f/bo1 (AD)
