13/11/23 (Agence Europe) – Contacted by EUROPE, the European Commission revealed on Monday 13 November that nine EU Member States have applied to host the future European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) (see EUROPE 13289/2). These countries are Belgium for Brussels, Germany for Frankfurt, Ireland for Dublin, Spain for Madrid, France for Paris, Italy for Rome, Latvia for Riga, Lithuania for Vilnius and Austria for Vienna. The call for applications closed at 6pm on Friday 10 November. These applications will be published on the Commission’s website. The criteria for selecting the seat of AMLA (see EUROPE 13259/10), as well as its remit, are still the subject of interinstitutional negotiations (see EUROPE 13282/7). On Tuesday 14 November, the co-legislators will discuss the second text, in particular direct and indirect supervision of the financial sector, indirect supervision in the non-financial sector and common instruments.
