13/11/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 13 November, the EU Council adopted without debate the regulation (https://aeur.eu/f/9j1 ) on the Farm Sustainability Data Network (FSDN). The aim of the text is to increase the sustainability of EU food systems through an improved data collection process that takes into account environmental and social data as well as economic data already collected through the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN). The FSDN regulation amends the FADN regulation in order to allow the collection of the additional data necessary to pursue the objectives of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and the European Green Deal (see EUROPE 13213/12). The FADN consists of a database of microeconomic and accounting data collected each year, using a common methodology, from a sample of 80,000 EU farms designed to be statistically representative. (LC)
