MEPs approve agreement with EU Council on sustainable aviation fuels

27/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 27 June, with 35 votes in favour and 5 against, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) approved the provisional agreement reached at the end of April with the Council of the European Union on the ‘ReFuelEU Aviation’ regulation on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), which is part of the ‘Green Deal’ (see EUROPE 13203/33). This regulation sets out a roadmap for the deployment of sustainable fuels in aviation to reduce the sector’s CO2 emissions by replacing kerosene with sustainable fuels. The EU Council has already adopted the agreement (see EUROPE 13206/27). Parliament still has to approve it in plenary before the text can be applied. Read the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/7rh (AD)
