27/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 27 June, with 38 votes in favour and one abstention, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) approved the provisional agreement reached at the beginning of June with the Council of the EU on the deployment of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) (see EUROPE 13198/14). It provides for the systematic, harmonised and gradual deployment of ITS, taking full account of the cost-benefit ratio and administrative capacity. It retains the structure of the Commission’s initial proposal, which is based on the ‘framework’ dimension of the ITS Directive and on the various technical interventions by means of implementing acts and delegated acts. The Council has already adopted the agreement (see EUROPE 13209/41). Parliament still has to approve it in plenary before the text can be applied. Read the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/7ri (AD)
