27/06/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 27 June, European Commission spokeswoman Ana Pisonero acknowledged that the full memorandum of understanding between the EU and Tunisia would not be signed before the end of the month, contrary to the initial objective (see EUROPE 13199/15). Explaining that the discussions were constructive, but that a little more work was needed, she said that the negotiations would continue after Eid Al-Adha, which is celebrated in Tunisia, on Monday 3 July. “The aim is to have an agreement shortly after the European Council” on 29 and 30 June, added Ms Pisonero. “The discussions with Tunisia are being finalised (...), but the Tunisian side is still opening up a number of issues”, said a source at the Élysée Palace.
