Copa-Cogeca calls for “automatic triggering of safeguard measures” for Ukrainian exports

On Tuesday 2 May, the EU’s agricultural organisations and cooperatives (Copa-Cogeca) expressed support for the adoption of rapid safeguard measures to counter the negative effects in some EU countries of Ukrainian agricultural imports and their view that the crisis reserve budget is insufficient to solve all the problems faced by European farmers.

At a press conference, Cogeca President Ramon Armengol said that agricultural imports from Ukraine increased by 88% in 2022 compared to 2021....
