02/05/2023 (Agence Europe) – The Federation of European Publishers (FEP) and the European and International Booksellers Federation (EIBF) awarded, on Friday 28 April, the 2023 EU Prize for Literature to Martina Vidaić. The Croatian author won over the jury with her short story “Stjenice” (“Bedbugs”), published in November 2021. Funded by Creative Europe, the award recognises emerging contemporary fiction writers from the 41 countries participating in the programme. Every year since 2009, national organisations from one third of the participating countries can nominate potential authors, allowing all geographical and linguistic areas to be rewarded. This year’s nominees came from Armenia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Kosovo, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Montenegro, Poland and Sweden.
