23/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Thursday 23 February that it would suspend the use of the social network TikTok on its corporate devices in order to strengthen the institution’s cybersecurity. This measure, which aims to protect the European Commission from cybersecurity threats and actions that could be exploited for cyber-attacks against it, will cover all corporate and personal devices registered with the European Commission’s mobile device service. “We are disappointed with this decision, which we believe is wrong and based on misconceptions”, said a spokesperson for the Chinese company, which quickly responded in a statement. Other social networks and their security developments will also be kept under “constant review”, said the European Commission. (TM)
