23/02/2023 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday, 22 February, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced sanctions against two MEPs: Yannick Jadot (Greens/EFA) of France and Frederique Ries (Renew Europe) of Belgium. “These sanctions against me, and others, are proof that we are heard. We are the voice of the Iranian people[;] we will not be silent!” declared Ms Ries. Mr Jadot explained that the mullahs’ regime would not stop him from defending the Iranian people and the inclusion of the Revolutionary Guards on the European list of terrorist entities. A total of 15 individuals and 13 European entities, including companies linked to the military sector, were added to the sanctions list. On Monday, 20 February, the EU adopted additional sanctions against those responsible for human rights violations in Iran. (CG)
