07/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission wants to assess the effectiveness of the 2012 Directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment (2012/19/EU, the so-called WEEE Directive) in meeting the objectives of the ‘European Green Deal’. It is seeking input from all interested parties through a four-week public consultation, launched on Thursday 6 October. The aim is to assess: - whether the Directive meets the objectives of sound waste management to protect health and the environment, reducing the overall impact of resource use and promoting circular economy; - explore all possibilities for simplification and reduction of the administrative burden; - to establish whether a review of this Directive is necessary. The evaluation is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2023. The consultation is open until midnight Brussels time on 3 November. To access: https://aeur.eu/f/3h9 (AN)
