07/10/2022 (Agence Europe) – The Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will visit Algeria on Monday 10 October for a two-day visit aimed at strengthening the EU’s cooperation with Algiers in the area of energy. During her visit, she will chair a high-level dialogue on energy and hold a bilateral meeting with the Algerian minister for energy, Mohamed Arkab. The move is part of the Commission’s efforts to diversify the EU’s sources of energy supply since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Algeria is one of the EU’s main suppliers of fossil gas. It exports it through pipelines to Spain and Italy and through LNG tankers. (DG)
