Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking selects 35 projects for €250 million funding

On Friday 7 October, the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking selected 35 new projects in the field of 6G research for a total amount of €250 million.

The funding, made available under the Horizon Europe programme, will be used to finance projects that will validate the technologies under development through experimental infrastructures and large-scale pilot tests.

These projects will cover the sectors of commerce, industry, media, the Internet of Things, energy, automotive, e-health, culture, agriculture and education.

In addition, 5G will not be forgotten either, as some projects will be dedicated to the possible evolutions of this technology, through improvements, as well as further investigation of the benefits of technological enablers.

As a reminder, the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking, established in 2021, is intended to ensure the EU’s industrial leadership in the fields of 5G and 6G by pooling the resources of the EU and industry players in these sectors. The Joint Undertaking has an EU budget of €900 million for the period 2021-2027. (Original version in French by Thomas Mangin)
