EU Internal Market and Industry Ministers are expected to hold a policy debate on the Single Market Emergency Instrument (SMEI) and the Ecodesign Regulation at the Competitiveness Council on 29 September.
The debate on SMEI will be the first following the presentation by the European Commission next week in Strasbourg (see EUROPE 13013/4). This is an eagerly awaited instrument for supporters of the deepening of the internal market, but trade unions have some concerns (see EUROPE 13016/5).
The second debate, also the first on this topic, will be devoted to the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (see EUROPE 12923/16 and 12940/30). The working lunch will be dedicated to the resilience of the internal market in the face of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
For the time being, a ‘miscellaneous’ item on the European Alliance for Transformation technologies has been added at the request of Germany. (Original version in French by Pascal Hansens)
