08/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – The share of original content funded by streaming platforms rose sharply across the EU, the UK and Norway in 2021. Nearly 16% of original content - an amount of €2.8 billion - was financed by streaming platforms in the last year, says the latest analysis report on the evolution of funding for original content by the European Audiovisual Observatory, published on Thursday 8 September. Netflix is – by far – at the top of the list in terms of funding, ahead of Amazon, Disney+ and HBO Max. This funding has had the effect of pushing private (43%) and public (42%) audiovisual channels to increase their investments, with a cumulative total amount capped at €14.6 billion in 2021.
