08/09/2022 (Agence Europe) – The first interinstitutional negotiation meeting on the regulation creating the ‘Social Climate Fund’ will take place on 13 October, a source told EUROPE on Thursday 8 September. A second negotiation meeting could then take place at the end of November, according to a draft timetable. The first meeting will essentially serve “to list the priorities” of the European Parliament and Council of the EU, indicates another source. The Council of the EU adopted its mandate on 30 June (see EUROPE 12982/7) and adopted its position on a ‘Social Climate Fund’ of €59 billion over a period of 5 years. The amount and duration of the Fund will be points of friction with the European Parliament as well as the rule of co-financing of social climate plans which the Council of the EU abolished. (SP)
