A European source announced on Wednesday September 7 that Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom should be among the countries invited to the first meeting of the European Political Community, which will take place in Prague on 6 October. A total of 44 countries could be represented there.
To several media, this source explained that the 27 EU Member States, the six Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia), Turkey, five Eastern Partnership countries (Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia), as well as the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein should be invited to the meeting.
“This meeting will be for leaders only. Its main goal will be for leaders to have a political discussion on strategic issues of common interest for the European continent”, this source emphasised, citing the war of Russia against Ukraine, the energy crisis and the economic situation.
According to her, the meeting will include an opening plenary session, roundtable discussions about security stability, energy climate , mobility, economy, etc., bilateral meetings and a closing plenary dinner. (Original version in French by Camille-Cerise Gessant)
