21/06/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 21 June, the Council of the European Union amended the existing decision on restrictive measures in the light of the situation in Libya, with the aim of specifying the criteria used to decide on sanctions on persons and entities whose acts threaten the peace, stability or security of Libya. It decided that it was necessary to clarify that the criteria for the imposition of restrictive measures also include persons and entities obstructing or undermining the elections planned for in the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum Roadmap. A vote is scheduled for 24 December 2021. Furthermore, on 18 June, the EU Council extended the mandate of the European Union Border Assistance Mission in Libya (EUBAM Libya) by 2 years, until 30 June 2023 (see EUROPE 12726/14). (CG)
