EU welcomes appointment of a national unity government

10/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Union Ambassador to Libya, Jose Sabadell, on Wednesday 10 March welcomed the appointment of a government of national unity in Libya (see EUROPE 12653/13). The Libyan Parliament voted its confidence in this government led by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh. “Mabruk Libya in this truly historic day!” he stressed via Twitter. “The new unity [government] can count on the full support of the international community, specially of the EU, to its objectives of peace, stability & prosperity”. According to Ambassador Sabadell, reconciliation, improving basic services and preparing for the elections, scheduled for the end of December, will be the main challenges to be met. (CG)
