10/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – MEPs Heidi Hautala (Greens/EFA, Finland), Hannah Neumann (Greens/EFA, Germany), Svenja Hahn (Renew Europe, Germany) and Anna Fotyga (ECR, Poland) called on the EU on Tuesday 9 March to support democratic actors in Myanmar, a few days after their meeting with Members of the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the national legislative body representing the elected members of Pyidaungsu Hluttaw. “We pledge to support the ongoing work of the CRPH to restore democracy and respect for the Rule of law in Myanmar through non-violent means and to support them in any way we can”, they said. According to them, “people under threat need protection. Communication channels and platforms between the CRPH and the people of Myanmar must remain open”. (CG)
