10/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The outcome of the negotiations on the future of EDF depends on the attitude of the European Commission, whose position “does not satisfy us”, said the CEO of the French electricity producer, in an interview with Express, Wednesday 10 March. “It is true that not much progress has been made since late autumn, but negotiations are still ongoing between the State and the European Commission. The outcome will depend on the attitude of the latter”, said Jean-Bernard Lévy. The French government and the management of EDF support the Hercule project, which aims to reorganise the company into three entities to give it more resources. However, France insists on the fact that EDF must remain an ‘integrated’ group. “Dismantling EDF would not be effective for consumers, nor for our country, its employment and sovereignty, nor for CO2 emissions”, the CEO believes.
