10/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – The ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) gave their green light on Wednesday 10 March to the adoption of EU Council conclusions on the Sustainable Chemicals Strategy of the Union (see EUROPE 12674/19). The conclusions welcome the strategy, which sets out a long-term vision for achieving a high level of protection of human health and the environment, while helping to strengthen the competitiveness of EU industry through the production and use of safe and sustainable chemical substances. They stress the urgency of action and will guide the implementation of this strategy, in accordance with the precautionary and prevention principles. The adoption procedure, in writing, should be completed by 12 March. The result will be communicated to the European Environment Ministers during their videoconference on 18 March. (AN)
