22/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched on Monday 22 June a public consultation to gather stakeholders’ views on a possible accession of the European Union to the 2019 Hague Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in Civil or Commercial Matters (see EUROPE 12288/27). “The recognition of judgments helps companies expand their businesses in our internal market. We believe that ratifying the Convention - which extends this system of recognition to the international level - will support companies even more. But before we go any further, we need to know that citizens and businesses share this view”, explained EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders in a statement.
