22/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – “The political crisis that has been shaking Mali for several weeks now poses a risk to the stability of the country and the region”, warns the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell. In a statement issued on Monday 22 June, he welcomed “the peaceful nature of the demonstrations and the willingness of all political actors to maintain dialogue in order to reach a broad consensus on the future of Mali”. He indicates that the EU supports ECOWAS mediation and its proposals for a way out of the crisis. The EU “joins with the United Nations and the African Union in calling on all actors for dialogue and restraint. We encourage the authorities to take rapid decisions that will help overcome the crisis, particularly on the post-election dispute”. (AN)
