13/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Council of the European Union formally adopted on Thursday 13 June the revised directive to stimulate public procurement of clean vehicles. This text is the result of the interinstitutional agreement reached on the evening of 11 February between representatives of the European Parliament and the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the revision of the current Directive 2009/33/EC (see EUROPE 12192/24). This is in line with the European Commission's proposal of November 2017, as part of the second ‘mobility’ package (see EUROPE 11900/2). This includes setting minimum targets for the use of clean vehicles by public authorities. This adoption of the new rules follows the green light given by the European Parliament on 18 April (see EUROPE 12239/8). Once the Directive is published in the Official Journal of the European Union, it can enter into force. (LT)
