13/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European regulation establishing for the first time performance standards for the reduction of CO2 emissions from new buses and other heavy-duty vehicles was adopted on Thursday 13 June by the EU Council. The text was the subject of an interinstitutional agreement last February (see EUROPE 12197/2). It provides for: - a 30% reduction in emissions by 2030 compared to 2019 with an intermediate target of 15% by 2025 - two binding targets - and the setting in 2022 of post-2030 targets compatible with the Paris Climate Agreement; - a system of incentives for the placing on the market of low-emission or zero emission vehicles: super credits until 2024 and a mandatory share of these clean vehicles of 2% in sales in 2025.
