EU Council go-ahead for Interinstitutional Agreement on training for seafarers

06/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 6 June, the Council of the European Union formally adopted the text repealing Directive 2005/45/EC and amending Directive 2008/106/EC on the minimum level of training of seafarers. The text was agreed at a second interinstitutional negotiation meeting ('trilogue') between representatives of the European Parliament and the Romanian Presidency of the Council on 11 February this year (see EUROPE 12192/25). The MEPs meeting in the European Parliament plenary session approved this agreement on 4 April (see EUROPE 12229/2). The new rules will therefore be able to come into force soon. (LT)
