MEPs meeting in plenary session of the European Parliament on Thursday 4 April approved two interinstitutional agreements on transport.
The first, approved by a large majority (534 votes in favour, 37 against, with 11 abstentions), involves revision of the Directive (2008/96/EC) on road infrastructure safety management. The Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and representatives of the European Parliament reached an agreement on 21 February, following a third interinstitutional negotiation meeting (a 'trilogue') (see EUROPE 12199/3).
The second agreement, also approved by a very large majority (573 votes in favour, 36 against, with 12 abstentions), involves repeal of Directive 2005/45/EC and amendment of Directive 2008/106/EC on the minimum level of training of seafarers, which was agreed at a second trilogue meeting on 11 February (see EUROPE 12192/25).
