06/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Thursday 6 June a further €6 million to help the most vulnerable people in Colombia. Of these funds, €1 million will be earmarked for preparedness and response to natural disasters such as floods, landslides and droughts. Thus, European aid will be used to provide protection, health care and food aid to people displaced as a result of the ongoing conflict in the country, to provide access to safe drinking water and sanitation and to education in emergency situations. With more than €241 million in humanitarian aid since 1994, Colombia is the main recipient of EU humanitarian aid in Latin America, according to the Commission. (CG)
