06/06/2019 (Agence Europe) – In an interview with Euranet Plus on Thursday 6 June, EU Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström said that talks with the South American bloc had entered their final phase. “It is a priority for this Commission to complete the negotiations before the end of the mandate, and we are very close to that”. “It is not excluded that trade negotiations may end before the summer,” she added. However, no formal meetings with ministers from these countries are on the Commissioner's agenda for the next few days in Japan at the G20 ministerial meeting on trade and the digital economy on 8 and 9 June. “We'll have a little chat during the coffee break”, she concluded. Mrs Malmström will also meet with her Australian, Korean, Japanese and Singaporean counterparts, with whom she will discuss the state of bilateral trade relations and ongoing work to reform the World Trade Organisation.
