12/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EEAS spokesperson said on Tuesday 12 March that the resumption of hostilities in the Kushar district of Yemen showed that the “full” implementation of the Stockholm Agreement, signed in December 2018, was “a matter of extreme urgency” (see EUROPE 12196/4). Some 20 civilians were killed and 30 wounded in bombardments in recent days. “It is essential to lay the groundwork for progress towards an inclusive political solution, which is the only option to put an end to this long conflict”, the spokesperson warned in her statement, adding that the EU expects all parties to respect their commitments and rapidly implement the provisions of the Hodeidah ceasefire, including the mutual redeployment of forces. The spokesperson called on the parties to engage with the UN Special Envoy in good faith. Yemen will be on the agenda of the Foreign Affairs Council on 18 March. (CG)
