12/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 12 March, the European Commission adopted a delegated act to regulate the technical requirements that drones must meet in the European Union. "Today’s decision is vital for the further development of the European drone sector", said Violeta Bulc, European Commissioner for Transport. "We have to ensure that they [the drones] are safe for other airspace users and people on the ground", she added. This delegated act follows the Interinstitutional Agreement from 30 November 2017 between the representatives of the European Parliament and the former Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU on the reform of the Statute of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) (see EUROPE 11916/5). The agreement provided that the rules governing the production and maintenance of drones would be adopted through such acts. Link to the delegated regulations: https://bit.ly/2F9IOUJ (LT)
