12/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The EU/New Zealand Joint Committee discussed on Monday 11 March the possibilities for further collaboration between the two sides in the areas of global issues, institutional and interpersonal relations and consular affairs and international development, the European External Action Service announced in a statement. The Committee thus examined the possibility of establishing an annual EU/New Zealand dialogue on development issues in line with the existing EU/New Zealand partnership in the Pacific, "which has already produced significant results", according to the EEAS. Both sides also reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate closely in multilateral fora, in particular for the effective implementation of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. The Joint Committee also discussed opportunities to deepen linkages in the coming years in research, education and interpersonal relations. (CG)
