12/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – MEPs in Parliament's plenary session largely adopted their position on electronic information exchange in freight at first reading on Tuesday 12 March (612 votes in favour, 28 against, 23 abstentions). The text takes up exactly the letter of the report by Claudia Schmidt (EPP, Austria) adopted in the European Parliament Transport Committee on 29 January (see EUROPE 12182/10). It echoes the European Commission's proposal for a Regulation of last May, as part of the third ‘mobility’ package (see EUROPE 12022/11). After the validation of a simple progress report last December by the EU Transport Ministers (see EUROPE 12151/5), work resumes in the Council's working party on ‘Transport - intermodal questions and networks’. The experts in this group are expected to work on a new draft compromise on Friday 15 March. (LT)
